Negative Behaviors in Marriage
There is a struggle in every relationship that we each work through on a day to day basis. This is the struggle of overcoming the "natural man." To me the natural man is anything that goes against Heavenly Father. It is the fight against ourselves to give up short term gratification for the long term pleasures of this life and after this life.
My husband and I both have weaknesses. Neither of us have life completely perfected. Almost every weakness we portrait affects our partner in marriage and children. When I am by myself I try to keep in mind that my every action will affect my family and the spirit of our home for better or for worse. How important then is it for us to choose to create a stronger feeling of peace and abounding love in our homes through our choices.
I have learned that as I seek for guidance as I try to be just a little bit better every day I become aware of things in my life that need to go. For example, I used to watch movies that had bad language, immodesty, a lot of violence and other negative messages. However, as I have been prompted by the spirit to stop watching these things I find so much more peace in my mind and heart.
It is important to talk about your personal standards with your spouse and come to an agreement of what you would like to do within your household. I am blessed that Jacob is also sensitive to media and agrees that we should keep these evil things out of our home. We hope to create an environment that is completely safe from the world's influence. This is all achieved through our choices.
I am grateful for a God who guides us as we strive to become like His Son, Jesus Christ. I know that he has led me to ways to become a better daughter of God.
