Fidelity and Physical Intimacy within Marriage

I don't believe there is anything which can bring more love and happiness or more pain and heartbreak to a marriage than fidelity and intimacy. How important than is it to go about these things in a spiritual, loving and pure manner. 

In this world I see messages of justified infidelity everywhere. I see it in movies, on billboards, in writing, even in the actions of those around me. Not only physical infidelity, but emotional and spiritual infidelity as well. Do we realize when we are being unfaithful to our beloved spouse? 

I have seen the affects of on the family life. It is an awful thing, I despise it. I used to get very upset by the immodesty surrounding us in this world. However, I learned an important lesson. Rather than wanting to sneak up behind every immodest woman and cover her in a giant sweatshirt or paint an inappropriate billboard or even smash a phone with a hammer ( I know those are extreme examples but I've thought of doing each! haha)  to protect the men, boys, women and girls in my life, I realized that I cannot control the environment, but we can control how we react to these things!

In this day and age we live INSIDE of the large and spacious building from Lehi's dream. We may not be able to remove all of the evil, but we can control our thoughts, words and actions. It is important to talk about these things with our children and be open about and sex. It is also vital to live the principles found in the Gospel of of Latter Day Saints. 

On the other side of things, what a beautiful relationship can be formed from a virtuous, faithful companionship. The love that comes from such is overwhelming and beautiful. 

When a man and woman are physically intimate within the bonds of marriage in a spiritual manner, each is edified, feels more understood and feels more love for their spouse than before. Unfortunately the opposite is also true. We need to be so careful with this delicate given gift. 

In this area the most important thing seems to be to strive for virtue. In this world where unfaithfulness is so justified and in some cases accepted as good, we need to show our spouse fierce fidelity and loyalty in every aspect of our lives.
